Solution:
During the Covid-19 pandemic, nurses have faced many challenges that needed effective leadership to overcome. One leader who impacted my practice during this period is our unit manager. She understood that we were working extra harder and more hours to provide care to the increased number of patients. Thus, she took it as a personal initiative to help where she could. Rather than just staying in her office, she joined us and worked with us as a team, providing patient care. She also advocated for our profession, health, and wellbeing by pushing the top management to hire more staff, particularly nurses and support staff. This made our work easier. She encourages us to take good care of ourselves to avoid compassion fatigue and burnout as it would affect our ability to provide quality care.
