The concept of moral status typically deals with what or who is so valuable to be treated with special considerations. This concept usually raises a lot of debate among religions given some circumstances put people in ethical dilemmas. Taking this into account, this paper explores the theories of moral status on the basis of the case of fetus abnormality.

Christian View of the Nature of Human Persons

According to Jones and Molinari (2018), Christianity typically proclaims that the life a human being is sacred. Christians also uphold that the dignity of the human being is the primary foundation or a moral vision when it comes to the society. As such, Christians view the lives of all human beings to be valuable without exception. This view is in line with the human properties theory of moral status. According to this theory, moral respect usually requires an organism to be a member of Homo sapiens without exceptions. From this point of view, it can be concluded that this theory upholds that moral principles need to apply to all human beings. Bix (2017) explains that this theory articulates that vulnerable beings such as embryos should be protected.
