Use evidence (cite sources) to support your response from assigned readings or online lessons, and at least one outside scholarly source.

Solution:

Integration of the European region dates back to the 1950s. However, it was officially established in 1992 following the creation and ratification of the Maastricht Treaty (Whitman, 2019). The Lisbon Treaty of 2007 created its powers and structure (McBride, 2019). With the signing and ratification of the treaties, the 28 members committed to shared sovereignty as well as the delegation of decision making mandate. Initially, the goal was to promote economic growth and peace within the region (Whitman, 2019). This goal was particularly important at the time seeing that World War II had just ended.
