Earlier, there was a conflict between nurses and physicians in my healthcare setting. This intergroup conflict concerned misunderstandings of each group’s role with the physician group being alleged as assuming a dominating stance in healthcare operations. Consequently, this misunderstanding in roles promoted identity conflict between the two warring parties. Again, the physicians were suspected to force their own set of values on the nurses, making them feel belittled and irrelevant in care delivery. Remarkably, the conflict was resolved and a seamless care was achieved. After examining the root of the conflict, it was ascertained that the conflict was sparked by poor collaboration and miscommunication between the nurses and physicians.
