My area of specialty is mother and baby care which is also referred to as postpartum. In this type of care, it entails attending to both the mother and the newborn through ensuring that they are in stable and safe condition and in particular the first 24 hours (Forster et al., 2016). I ascribe to the person-centered care theory which is described as providing care to a patient as a whole, in line with their needs and involving them, their family, and friends if necessary (Oldham, 2016).
