I work in a healthcare organization and my immediate supervisor is the nurse manager. As we have learned here, the nurse managers roles can be summed up as controlling, organizing, planning, and leading. Generally, nurse managers are tasked with both nurse and executive roles. They report to the director or chief nursing officer. My nurse manager exercises planning through activities such as developing plans on how the unit resources are to be used to realize the set objectives. The nurse manager undertakes this function through identification of challenges in the unit and developing viable plans on how to overcome such. Secondly, nurse managers undertake the function of controlling through transfer of data into action.
