Describe the basic industries of America’s Industrial Revolution. Explain what made the men who controlled them so successful, and analyze the role of immigrants in industrialization. Following the American Civil War in the late 19th century, substantial forces of the industrial revolution and immigration started changing the country from a farming economy to an industrial one.  Taking this into consideration, although many industries had emerged during this period, the main ones included coal, cotton, petroleum, and steel industries.  As espoused by Cornell, Keene, and O’Donnell (2013), the rapid development of these industries explains why the United States was able to surpass many industrialized countries by 1900.
