Initial Post Instructions
If you have a problem that has multiple variables, you can solve it using a system of equations. Think of a real-world example where you would need to solve using a system of equations. Write two or three sentences describing your example. Include the equations in your description, but do not solve the system. That will be left to your classmates.
Solution:
A real world problem will be,
You are running a concession stand at a basketball game. You are selling hot dogs and sodas. Each hotdog costs $1.50 and each soda costs $0.50. At the end of the night you made a total of $78.50. You sold a total of 87 hot dogs and sodas combined. You must report the number of hot dogs and the number of sodas sold.
We first have to identify the important information
hotdogs cost $1.50
Sodas cost $0.50
Total $78.50
Hot dog and sodas combined 87 were sold
We could now label our variables,
x= the number of hot dogs sold……..Please click the icon below to purchase full answer at only $5
