This week in your lesson, there was quite a bit of discussion about quantitative research. In thinking about your PICOT question for your MSN project, in your opinion and your experience with your area of interest, what value can quantitative research bring as you review the evidence to support your project?

In most cases, scientific research follows either qualitative or quantitative research approaches. Healthcare and nursing research often uses quantitative research methods which use and produces quantifiable data. Using quantitative will allow for measurement and recording of study variables in numerical formats and subsequent analysis of the data collected using statistical tools and techniques (Bryman, 2017). Using quantitative research in my area of research will allow for measurement of the independent variable (postnatal visits) and the dependent variable (maternal mortality rate). This will allow for production of objective and precise results which can be generalized when appropriately used. More so, quantitative research will add value by producing reliable and factual outcome data.
