In integrated leadership and management, one of the main traits I consider profound is that of thinking in terms of change and renewal. In this trait, the distinction between a conventional and current leader is centered on embracing dynamism in the healthcare realm. According to Marquis and Huston (2017), while a traditional manager will accept the processes and structure of the organization, the leader-manager evaluates the changing reality globally and seeks to revise the company consistent with the current pace. In this trait, the leader recognizes that the current environment is dynamic and competitive. Competition in this regard emanates from new and improved healthcare approaches and adoption of models and frameworks that aim at promoting the quality and safety of the patient. Such strategies include person-centered care and multidisciplinary care approaches.
