Solution:

My goals as a future nurse educator are to become a competent nurse educator where I can act as a role model and advisor of the nursing students while guiding them in their journey to becoming competent licensed registered nurses (RNs).

The learning in this course has hugely impacted my goals and purpose as a nurse educator positively. I have learned of different ways to educate my nursing students including both traditional (e.g. lecturing) and contemporary approaches (e.g. simulation). I will use the knowledge gained to improve on my teaching styles to ensure I communicate with every student through the best approaches possible.

Nurse students must develop critical thinking skills so they can integrate them into patient care practice. To develop my students’ critical thinking skills, I will assign teamwork tasks to promote interactions and discussions among them. I will also ask open-ended questions especially during class discussions (in online classes) to encourage them to think and respond creatively in the absence of fear of giving the wrong response.
