Purpose

The monitoring and controlling of processes and outputs is critical to the success of the project. It is the responsibility of the project manager (PM) to measure the progress toward achieving the objectives while monitoring any deviations from the plan and initiating immediate corrective action to avert negative consequences to the project. The project manager must make sure that the I’s are dotted, and the T’s are crossed.

Course Outcome

This assignment enables the student to meet the following Course Outcome (CO).

Students are given the opportunity to request an extension on assignments for emergent situations. Supporting documentation must be submitted to the assigned faculty. If the student’s request is not approved, the assignment is graded and a late penalty is applied as follows:

  • Monday = 10% of total possible point reduction
  • Tuesday = 20% of total possible point reduction
  • Wednesday = 30% of total possible point reduction

In any project, in order to track all tasks and activities and ensure their timely completion, the manager must monitor and control it. Project monitoring and control allow for projects to be not only completed on time but also within the set budget and quality deliverables (Baum & Benjamin, 2017). This also allows for the collection of important data that can be used in making informed decisions which involve taking advantage of opportunities, implementing changes, and avoiding any possible problems in project development (Sipes, 2016). With respect to this, discussed in this paper is the project monitoring and control process for the meditation program project for Emergency Care nurses.

Project monitoring and control involve various strategies. One of these is performance measurement which measures the project’s performance to establish its progress and help in ensuring that the project is within time, scope, and budget. It also helps identify any factors that may influence project scope changes and approaches to addressing ant changes in scope.
