Agenda setting is a difficult process. This is primarily because of the high number of competing issues and interested parties(Whitman, 2019). In addition, each issue has its set of sponsors and opponents. The latter serve to make the process even more straining and difficult. I believe that the congressional majority and minority leaders have a lot of influence on the agenda setting process. Both the House of Representatives have minority and majority party leaders. Among these, I believe that the senate majority party leader is the most influential. The current majority party leader in the senate is Senator Mitch McConnell from Kentucky.
