Professional Identity and Stewardship

I had the privilege to interview Madam Prisca Jones (P.J), the charge nurse of the acute care unit in a Family Healthcare Facility (FHF). P.J has 15 years of experience as a charge nurse. P.J graduated as a registered nurse 20 years ago where she specialized on direct bedside nursing. She worked for 5 years and was promoted to a charge nurse after completing her BSN degree. She has since been a charge nurse where she has led various team effectively. This paper provides a review of the interview with P.J which sought to understand her role in the healthcare team, her perspective on leadership and professionalism, and importance of professional authenticity, advocacy, power and influence in her leadership.

What is your role as a health care team member?

A question was posed to P.J to describe her role in the healthcare team.
